NEW: GibbsCAM Certified by Autodesk for Inventor 2009

Gibbs and Associates, developer of GibbsCAM®, CAM software for programming CNC machine tools and controls and a Cimatron company, announced today that GibbsCAM has been certified for Autodesk Inventor® 2009 under the Autodesk Inventor Certified Applications Program. Certification is granted only after a product has been thoroughly tested by internal staff at Autodesk. Certified applications meet certain implementation guidelines and have demonstrated the highest levels of robustness, quality, and interoperability with Autodesk Inventor software.

Gibbs and Associates, developer of GibbsCAM®, software for programming CNC machine tools and a Cimatron company, announced today that GibbsCAM will be demonstrated at Mori Seiki’s upcoming Innovation Days on May 14th – 16th. Innovation Days, which highlights Mori Seiki’s latest CNC technology and also celebrates Mori Seiki’s 25th Anniversary, is being held at Mori Seiki USA’s Chicago Technical Center. Gibbs will demonstrate GibbsCAM’s NC programming support of Mori Seiki’s conventional and advanced multi-tasking machine tools. Gibbs will also demonstrate the latest GibbsCAM enhancement which fully supports Mori Seiki’s innovative spinning tool turning. GibbsCAM support for Mori Seiki’s spinning tool operation includes rough and finish turning on any type of lathe part and the ability to control the tool axis in a variety of ways to provide an optimal tool-part cutting condition.

This release introduces enhanced capabilities across the entire GibbsCAM product family, along with a complete range of 3-axis milling functionality with support for high speed machining. EASTEC is being held at the Eastern States Exposition Grounds in Springfield, Massachutes on May 20th – May 22nd , 2008.

Gibbs and Associates, developer of GibbsCAM®, software for programming CNC machine tools and a Cimatron company, is pleased to announce today that the SkillsUSA Competition team from the NTMA Norwalk & Ontario Facilities took home the Gold medals for CNC Mill and CNC Lathe categories from the SkillsUSA 2008 California State Competition held in Fresno, California on April 12th. This latest series of wins is a repeat of the team’s exceptional performance at the California SkillsUSA Region 6 competition where they won all twelve medals, Gold, Silver and Bronze, across four categories – CNC Mill, CNC Lathe, Conventional Mill & Lathe, and Conventional Mill. In recognition of their Gold medal wins at the California State Competition, the students were presented with seats of GibbsCAM software.

The End of G-Code?
Since the very first CNC machine tool, there was G-code. G-code provided the instructions, which drove the tool from one position to another, which turned the coolant on and off, which changed the tooling. They were inseparable - CNC machining and G-code. If you wanted to run CNC machines, you had to learn G-code in order to speak the language of the CNC controller.
